Professional career
Stéphane holds a Master of Law from the Université Catholique de Louvain (Erasmus Program in Humbolt- Universität in Berlin, Germany), a Master in Social, Economic & Tax Law from the University of Ghent, as well as an Executive MBA from INSEAD. He is fluent in French, Dutch, English, and German.
Before joining the aviation Industry, he worked as a lawyer for about 10 years for major law firms, specializing in collective labour law and corporate operations. In 2007, he joined the TAT/Sabena Technics group as Group General Counsel and headed the Corporate & Legal operations and the Human Resources department. In 2008, he became a member of the Board of Directors of Sabena Technics in Brussels and was entrusted with the group’s business development. Later, he was also appointed in the Board of Sabena Technics Group. During this period, he developed operations in various locations in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and the USA. In May 2011, Stéphane was appointed Managing Director of Sabena Technics Brussels and initiated the company transformation process resulting in a management buy-out in May 2014 and a change of the brand to Sabena Aerospace. With the creation of Sabena Aerospace he continued expanding his activities as an important international MRO solutions provider. As such, he is accountable manager part 145 and part 147 since May 2011.
In 2019, Sabena Aerospace employed 400+ staff, around 55 M€ revenues and had grown in EMEA, where it set up local maintenance stations in international airports, such as Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Republic of Congo Brazzaville, Antwerp, Luxembourg, Charleroi, Warsaw, Ostend and Liège.
Since June 2020, Stéphane is the CEO of the Orizio Group following the acquisition of SABCA (with a further acquisition of Lufthansa Technik Brussels and International in 2022). In 2023, he also took the role of Chairman of the Board of SABCA.
Stéphane is anchored in the European aviation industry. He is active as board member in different aviation related companies such as Air Belgium and Liege Airport and non-aviation companies such as SECO and CFE. Additionally, Stéphane is also president of the Belgian Security and Defense Industry organization (BSDI).
Stéphane is a true family person; he is married and has four children who provide plenty of animation during times outside of work.
